Three net career-highs as Fords route Lady Lions, 77-45

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The chilly wintry weather did not affect the shooting of the Haverford College women's basketball team who shot 48 percent from the field in Saturday evening's 77-45 victory over Penn State-Brandywine at Gooding Arena. The Fords offensive output was a season-best and ended a two-game skid.

Four freshman reached double-digits in scoring with Dominique Meeks, Calla Miller and Meredith Schoyer netting career-highs. Meeks scored 21, Miller tallied 16 which included four treys and Meredith Schoyer added 12 and was a rebound shy of her first career double-double. Nina Voith scored 13 points and grabbed eight boards.

Penn State-Brandywine was led by Sarah DeBerardinis who scored 15 points. Bobbi Caprice scored 11 and hit three three's.

Haverford (3-3) jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but Penn State-Brandywine answered back with seven straight points to go ahead. The score went back-and-forth for the next six minutes. Two free throws by Amber Chandler tied the score at 18-18 with 9:14 remaining. Danielle Harrison hit a jumper at the nine minute mark that gave HC the lead and was the start of a 26-8 Fords' run to close out the half.

The Lady Lions were held scoreless for three minutes and that helped Haverford extend its lead to five. After a three by Caprice cut the deficit to 10, the Fords scored the final six points of the half on layups by Schoyer, Voith and Sara Cram to take a 42-26 lead.

In the second half the Fords shot 52 percent from the field to extend their lead. Haverford tied a program record for assists in a game with 24.

The Scarlet and Black are on the road Wednesday when they travel to Ursinus College for a 6 p.m. tip.
