Women’s basketball scores season-high in 77-44 win at Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team downed Bryn Mawr College, 77-44, Monday evening in Centennial Conference action. The Fords shot 44 percent from the field and tied a program record for the second time this season, making 10 three-pointers while making all 11 of their free throw attempts.

Cara Wyant came off the bench to lead Haverford (10-13, 7-11 CC) with 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field. Nina Voith scored 11 points while Hope Rainey and Fern Beetle-Moorcroft both reached season-highs with eight points. In all, 12 different Fords got in on the scoring and 40 of the team's points came from the bench.

The Fords opened the game with treys by Calla Miller and Voith and never looked back. The lead quickly increased to 18 less than 10 minutes into the first half. Rainey bumped the advantage to 28-9 just past the eight-minute mark on a three. Haverford's lead climbed to 30 on a Meaghan Ryan layup with 3:31 left, but an 8-0 Bryn Mawr (0-22, 0-17) run to close the half brought the score to 39-17.

Aislinn Toohey brought the Owls within 19 early in the second half on a three, but HC never let Bryn Mawr get any closer and added on to the already large lead. Haverford's lead steadily rose throughout the second half before reaching its climax, 75-39, with 3:19 remaining on a Nicole Hurd basket.

Nicolette Parmese led all scorers with 16 points for the Owls. Toohey scored 12 points while Jackie Handy added 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Fords remain on the road Wednesday for their final away game of the season, traveling to Allentown, Pa. to take on Muhlenberg College at 6 p.m.
