Women’s basketball walks to raise money for ALS research

HAVERFORD, Pa. – On Saturday, Sept. 24 the Haverford College women's basketball team participated in the Walk to Defeat ALS on Music Pier in Ocean City, N.J.

The walk, which is one of many that take place across the country, raised money for the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of The ALS Association. The team walked with the group "Faith Walkers" for Libby Meeks, the mother of basketball forward Dominique Meeks, who is living with ALS.

On Saturday, Oct. 8 the women's basketball team will continue to raise money for ALS research by volunteering in the Billy Lake ALS basketball marathon, which runs from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. in Haverford's Gooding Arena. For more information about the marathon please visit http://www.billylake.com/
