CARLISLE, Pa. – Dominique Meeks scored a game-high 14 points for Haverford College but the visiting Fords weren't able to put the finishing touches on a late come-back and fell, 51-43, to Dickinson College Tuesday night in Centennial Conference women's basketball action.

Haverford (4-1, 1-1 CC) trimmed a nine-point second half lead to three with 1:12 remaining, but Dickinson (1-5, 1-1) hit five of six from the free throw line over the final 27 seconds to hold off the rallying Fords.

Meeks scored 10 points and pulled down seven of her team-best nine rebounds during the second half, helping the Fords claw their way back into a game that early on had rolled in Haverford's favor.

Calla Miller opened the scoring for Haverford with the game's first basket and, other than one tie, the Fords maintained a lead over the Red Devils until the first lead change in the 12th minute. After two more lead changes and two more ties, Dickinson stole the lead heading into the intermission, 23-21, on Belma Mekic's jumper with seven seconds left in the half.

The game was tied at 25 after three minutes of second-half play but the Red Devils broke off a 9-0 run to grab a lead they wouldn't relinquish. A Meeks jumper at the 1:12 mark brought the Fords back to within three but Dickinson sealed the win at the foul line as Lindsay Finnerty hit four consecutive free throw attempts to close out the team's first win of the season.

Elizabeth Lynch added nine points to the Fords' offensive attack and Hope Rainey pulled down five rebounds to help Meeks on the glass.

Dickinson spread its scoring out over eight different players, none of whom reached the double-figures mark. Gillian Ferko registered a game-high 10 rebounds while two other Red Devils accumulated six apiece to help stall the Fords' efforts.

Haverford continues its season with conference action in its next outing, a Thursday night visit by Washington College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Gooding Arena.
