Meeks earns all-conference recognition; Morgan named coach of the year

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Haverford College women's basketball team turned heads all season with its play on the court. The Centennial conference coaches took notice as junior Dominique Meeks earned second team All-Centennial recognition and head coach Bobbi Morgan was named Coach of the Year, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Earning all-conference accolades for the second year in a row, Meeks led the Fords in scoring (12.6 points per game, ninth in the Centennial), rebounding (7.1, 13th in the Centennial) and steals (62, second in the Centennial), and reached double-figures in 18 of Haverford's 25 contests. Her career-high 22-point effort at Swarthmore on the last day of the regular season keyed a 61-48 victory and helped secure the Fords' first trip into the postseason in program history.

Morgan, in her fourth year at the helm, led the Fords to a historic season as they set new standards for the program in conference wins (12) and overall wins (17). Haverford grabbed headlines as a result of its first-ever playoff berth and several monumental victories: first win at Gettysburg College, first sweep of Johns Hopkins University, and an upset of Muhlenberg College, then ranked 18th in the nation, which was only the second-ever win over the Mules and the program's first in Allentown.

Alexa Barbush, a junior guard from Franklin & Marshall College was named the Centennial's player of the year.
