Women's Basketball Goes to Centennial Conference Tournament

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team will face the Dickinson College Red Devils in the first round of the Centennial Conference playoffs on Wednesday at the Kline Center in Carlisle, Pa. Tipoff time is set for 7:30 p.m.

Haverford heads into the conference tournament as the No. 5 seed with a 15-10 record overall and 10-8 within the conference.

This marks a school-record fifth consecutive season that head coach Bobbi Morgan's team has received a conference playoff berth. The Fords made the semifinals last season, accruing an overall record of 16-11. In the 2013-14 season, Haverford was crowned the Centennial Tournament champions and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The women's basketball team displays a balanced attack offensively with four players averaging nine points or more per game. The Fords' leading scorer, Sierra Berkel (11.1 PPG), is currently second in the conference in field goal percentage at .502.

Berkel and sophomore Samantha Wetzel combine as one of the most prolific rebounding duos in the Centennial. Berkel is fifth among the top rebounders in the conference, averaging 8.5 per game while Wetzel gathers 7.6 per game. Wetzel is also third in the conference in blocks per game, averaging 2.8.

Olivia Walsh, the team's only senior, poses as Haverford's biggest threat to score beyond the arc. Walsh netted a personal-best four 3-pointers on four separate occasions this season.

Haverford and Dickinson met twice this year with Dickinson handing the Fords two close losses.

If the Fords defeat No. 4 Dickinson, they'll face top-seeded Muhlenberg on Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Allentown. No. 2 McDaniel and No. 3 Gettysburg will follow that game in the other semifinal.
