HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford Junior Megan Furch has been named the Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced in a release on Monday afternoon. The award is the first weekly honor for Furch, who has now logged double-digit scoring efforts in each of Haverford's last five contests.

Furch takes home the honor after a week in which the Hazlet, N.J. product tallied double-digit scoring in each of Haverford's games. In addition, Furch averaged 5.3 rebounds. In a midweek home victory over Washington College, Furch collected 10 points and added nine rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in an all-around performance. Against Swarthmore, Furch again went for 10 points, adding seven rebounds and two steals to her ledger as the Fords dispatched the rival Garnet on the road.

Furch was instrumental in Haverford's 21-point takedown of No. 20 Gettysburg, a team previously undefeated in Centennial Conference play. Furch notched 17 points in the contest, and grabbed four rebounds as Haverford unseated a ranked opponent for the second straight season. The next day, Furch was Haverford's leading scorer against Division I Penn, pouring in 16 points on a career-best eight made field goals in front of nearly 800 fans at the Palestra.  The contest was Haverford's first-ever matchup with a Division I program.

Furch and the Fords return to Centennial Conference play on Wednesday at home inside the Gooding '84 Arena. Haverford will face off with Ursinus, as the two teams are deadlocked with identical 10-4 records in Centennial play. Haverford got the best of the Bears in the previous matchup in November, coming away with a 55-44 victory in a defensive battle in Collegeville.
