Women's Basketball Seventh in Latest Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's basketball teams is slotted seventh in the second weekly release of the the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings, as announced on Wednesday, February 13.

The rankings, which are part of the criteria that ultimately lead to the selection of at-large bids to the NCAA tournament, represent the second of four total releases, as the penultimate regional rankings are slated to be released on Wednesday, February 20. The final rankings are announced as part of the 64-team tournament field announcement on Monday, February 25.

Haverford is currently 17-6 overall, with a 13-5 record in Centennial Conference play, good for third place in the conference standings. The Fords are 1-3 against regionally ranked opponents in the latest release. Elizabethtown, a team Haverford defeated on a neutral floor in November, entered this week's ranking at No. 8, and will be counted as a regionally-ranked opponent in next week's calculation.

Messiah tops the region, followed by Scranton, Gettysburg, Johns Hopkins, Christopher Newport, Southern Virginia, Haverford, and Elizabethtown.

Last season, the Fords entered the regional rankings during the second weekly release, checking in at the same number seven position. Haverford was ranked eighth in the region on Selection Monday, taking an at-large bid after reaching the 20-win plateau for the second time in the history of the program.

Following tonight's home contest with Hood Trophy rival Swarthmore, the Fords have a Sunday regular season finale against McDaniel before opening up the Centennial Conference tournament next week. Haverford has clinched a spot in the five-team field, but other details, including dates, times, and locations, are still to be determined pending the results of the final week of the regular season.
