FORDS FLASHBACK: Women's Basketball Takes 2019 Championship in Resounding Fashion

Over the course of the summer, Haverford Athletics will continue to dig into the archives to bring you a "Fords Flashback".

February 23, 2019

Recap | Box Score

Behind 22 points from Centennial Conference Tournament MVP Macy Goldbach '19, the Haverford College women's basketball team won the 2019 Centennial Conference Championship in resounding fashion. The Fords won the final three quarters against a Gettysburg team which was receiving votes in the national polls, but it was a 24-8 advantage in the second quarter that put the Fords up 35-24 at the half before cruising to a 62-40 win. In addition to Goldbach, fellow Kannerstein Award recipient Anna-Sophia Capizzi '20 scored 17 points in the win. That victory for the Fords was their second consecutive 20-plus point victory over Gettysburg as Haverford went 9-1 against CC opponents to close the regular season before two more tournament victories over the only two squads to finish higher than the Fords in the regular season standings. Nevertheless, the momentum did not stop there as Haverford won its opening round NCAA Tournament game with an 80-37 victory over Rosemont before giving No. 4 Tufts all it could handle in a 52-46 battle.
