FORDS FLASHBACK: Women's Basketball Surges To Second Straight CC Title (2020)

Over the course of the summer, Haverford Athletics will continue to dig into the archives to bring you a "Fords Flashback"

February 29, 2020

Recap | Box Score

Meeting Gettysburg once again in the Centennial Conference Championship game, the Haverford College women's basketball team made an epic comeback en route to the 2020 championship. The title marked the second straight for the Fords and the program's third all-time. Grit and resilience were often used to describe the team's run to the championship and those two qualities shined through as Haverford overcame an initial 14-0 deficit. Although the Fords stymied the Bullets' quick start, Haverford was still trailing 38-30 heading into the final quarter. It was not until Julianna Clark's three-pointer late in the fourth that Haverford tied the game at 46-all. Shortly after, Clark forced a jump ball on the defensive end before Centennial Conference Tournament MVP and Player of the Year Anna-Sophia Capizzi put her team in front with a pair of free throws. Clark and Capizzi both tied for the team lead with 19 points in the contest as they combined to score 25 of the team's 30 points during the second half.
