CARLISLE, Pa. - The Haverford College Women's Basketball team (6-13, 3-11 CC), suffered a defeat to Centennial Conference opponent Dickinson (14-4, 11-2 CC) on Saturday inside the Kline Center on the campus of Dickinson College.

The first six minutes of the contest were neck and neck, as the Red Devils had the upper hand up 6-4 with 3:46 remaining in the first quarter. Dickinson shot just 3-of-12 in the dry spell, while the Fords went 2-of-6 from the field, with scoring contributions from Gia Flamini and Audrey Jakway in the stretch.

Dickinson closed out the first quarter pushing away from the Scarlet and Black, going on a 10-4 run to end quarter number one up by eight at 16-8. The Red Devils used a perfect 5-of-5 shooting display to end the first quarter on a high note.

The second quarter was much more even, as the teams traded haymakers back-and-forth with Haverford outscoring Dickinson 10-8 to head into halftime down just six points, 24-18. Shae Mercer and Siena Emuobor added four points each in the second quarter, while Victoria Zerbe dropped four points for the Red Devils.

At the half, Mercer paced the Fords in scoring with six points, while Jakway, Emuobor, and Flamini all had four points each. Caitlin Blackman and Lindsey Hollenshead led Dickinson in point production, with both players ending the half with six points each.

A quick 6-0 spurt to begin the second half for the Red Devils prompted a Haverford timeout with the Fords trailing 30-18 with 7:45 left in quarter number three.

Out of the timeout, Dickinson began to pile on the points, jumping out to a 17-4 run to head into the final stanza up 47-22. The 5:49 scoring run saw the Red Devils go 5-of-6 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point land to gain the significant advantage over the Scarlet and Black.

Clair Marion posted eight points in a stretch where she poured in two triples. The other shot from downtown came from Hollenshead, who put up five points in the momentous scoring run.

The fourth quarter saw a Haverford swing, with the visitors outpacing Dickinson 22-12 over the final nine minutes of action. The Fords used an impressive 70 percent field goal percentage, as well as a 78 percent free-throw percentage to try and overcome a 25-point gap. Brianna Feifer knocked in nine points in the quarter, including one shot made from downtown.

Despite the Haverford offense coming alive in the closing quarter, the Red Devils still managed to tally 12 points in the period to hold on to the 59-44 victory.

The Scarlet and Black saw two scorers hit double figures on Saturday, as Jakway posted 12 points, while Mercer led the road warriors with 13 points.

For Dickinson, the combination of Marion (15 points) and Hollenshead (14 points) proved to be too much for the Fords, with the latter pulling down eight rebounds in the victory.

Next up for Haverford is another contest on the road as the Fords travel to Chestertown, Md. to take on the Shorewomen of Washington College. The matchup is the opening game of a doubleheader that will see Men's Basketball take on the Shoremen at 8 p.m.
