HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's lacrosse team established a new single-game program record with 16 assists as the Fords took down visiting Bryn Mawr College, 21-7, on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action at Swan Field.
Eyeing a spot in the conference playoffs, Haverford (10-3, 4-1 CC) scored three of the first four goals of the contest. Hannah Morgan, Kenny Likes and Christina Gould registered goals in the opening surge.
Kathleen Magner scored her first of the day at the 24-minute mark to bring the Owls (2-10, 0-7) within one, 3-2.
The Fords responded in a big way as they struck for the next seven goals over an 11-minute stretch. Morgan and Dayna Kim contributed two apiece during the Haverford burst.
The two squads traded goals over the final seven minutes of the half before Magner capped the first-half scoring with the 100th goal of her career.
Leading 12-5 at the break, the Fords continued to control play by tallying seven of the first eight goals of the second half.
Seven different players notched goals for Haverford over the final 30 minutes as the Fords claimed their fifth victory in their last six games.
Registering four goals and two assists, Morgan tied her career high with six points on the day. Dayna Kim also scored four goals to establish a new career high while Diana Perry and Gould added three goals apiece to aid the balanced attack.
Senior Likes filled the stat sheet with two goals, three ground balls, four draw controls and a career-high five assists.
Junior Megan Gallagher contributed two goals and one assist while freshmen Elyse Adler and Annie Kelly each registered a goal.
Adler aided the record-breaking assist effort with four and Kelly added one. Senior Perrin Downing also chipped in with three.
Junior Shannon Horn (9-3) earned the win with four saves in 23 minutes of action in the first half. Margaret Perkoff and Megan Chenworth made two saves apiece as they split the remainder of the game in goal.
Magner paced Bryn Mawr with four goals on seven shots. Goalie Grace Baelen-King (1-10) registered six saves in the loss.
Reaching the 10-win mark on the season with the victory, Haverford has now reached double figures in wins four times in the last five seasons.
The Fords, currently third in the conference standings, continue their push for a spot in the playoffs on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Washington College for a 4 p.m. contest with the 18th-ranked Shorewomen.
