COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – After a closely contested first half, the Haverford College women's lacrosse team pulled away in the second stanza to defeat the Ursinus College Bears 12-7 at Patterson Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The first half featured four lead changes and three ties. Senior Diana Perry got the scoring started with a tally at the 21:35 mark before the Bears countered with two consecutive goals. Sixteen seconds after the home team jumped in front, senior Dayna Kim nabbed her seventh goal of the year to tie the game with 18:32 to go in the first stanza. Freshman Molly Lausten became the second Ford to score 30 goals this season, giving the visitors a 3-2 advantage with 12:01 remaining. Three minutes later, Ursinus tied the game for the third time, but Perry scored her second goal with 3:46 to go to give Haverford a 4-3 halftime lead.

After the Bears scored the first goal of the second half, the Fords went on a 7-0 push to take an 11-4 lead. Senior Hannah Morgan, juniors Amanda Fleming, Christina Gould, Elyse Adler, Manetta and Lausten scored goals during the Fords' outburst. Ursinus answered with three straight goals to cut its deficit to four (11-7) with 7:50 to go in the game, but couldn't get any closer.

Perry's three goals led the Fords and makes her one of only four players in women's lacrosse history to have 170 career goals. She also moved into a tie for fifth all-time in career points (184). Lausten and Manetta added two goals each. It's the first time in two seasons that Haverford has two 30-goal scorers in a year. Adler and Gould had a goal and two assists while Kim registered two points. Eight different Fords scored a goal and junior Megan Chenworth made eight saves in the victory.

Emma Ebert had two goals and Meaghan Corbin made 13 saves in the loss for the Bears.

Head coach Lauren Wray's squad improves to 9-7 overall and 4-4 in the Centennial Conference while Ursinus falls to 4-12 overall and 6-6 in conference play. With one regular season game left, the Fords are among four teams battling for the fourth and fifth positions in the Centennial Conference playoff race. Haverford will travel to Swarthmore on Saturday with the game scheduled for 1 p.m.
