GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College women's lacrosse team (4-4, 0-1 CC) faced a big test in a road contest against No. 6 Gettysburg (7-1, 1-0 CC) on Saturday afternoon. The Fords were able to keep the game competitive, but ultimately fell to the Bullets, 16-7, in the first Centennial Conference game of the season for both teams.

After surrendering the first two goals of the game, Haverford countered by scoring four of the next six. Molly Lausten put the Fords on the board with a goal less than two minutes into regulation.

Sarina Manetta scored just a few minutes later to give the Fords their second goal of the game. Manetta finished the game with two caused turnovers, two draw controls, and a ground ball. She also led the game with six shots.

Later in the half, Christina Gould and Elyse Adler each scored to tie the game at four apiece.

Unfortunately, Gettysburg went on a scoring tear of its own. Haverford was able to chip away at the lead with goals in the second half, including Lausten and Adler finding the net for the second time.

Lausten, a sophomore, leads the team with 19 goals this season. Manetta (13) and Adler (11) are also in double digits. Gould, who made two assists to go along with her in the game, has 11 helpers on the year. This marks her third consecutive game with three points and fifth this season.

On defense, Noelle Smith scooped up two ground balls and goalie Megan Chenworth made three saves in net.

The Fords will continue conference play with a Centennial game against McDaniel at Swan Field on Saturday, April 2. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
