HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's lacrosse team (9-6, 5-3 CC) defeated Ursinus College (7-8, 3-5 CC) by a score of 13-9 on Wednesday afternoon at Swan Field. The Fords' offense was sparked by senior attacker Elyse Adler, who scored six goals and had an assist in the win. With the victory, Haverford positions itself more comfortably in the Centennial Conference playoff race.

Adler's six goals were a career high. The San Mateo, Calif. native now has 26 goals this season.

Sarina Manetta got things going with a goal just over a minute into regulation to give the Fords the game's first lead. Maura Grant and Rina Rosnow followed up with goals of their own and soon enough, the Fords had a 3-0 advantage. The two teams essentially traded goals for the rest of the first half, including scores from Molly Lausten, Shannon Rafsol, and Adler's first, as the Fords took a 6-3 lead into the break.

Head coach Lauren Wray's team came out of the half extremely motivated, cruising past the Bears in the scoring column. Adler went on a scoring run that netted her four goals in two minutes and 20 seconds of game time towards the beginning of the second half. Two of those goals were assisted by Allie Gibbons, the other two by Manetta. Gibbons would later score a goal of her own, followed by a goal from Annie Kelly.

At the 9:11 mark, Rosnow hooked up with Adler for the senior's sixth goal of the game and the Fords' final of the contest. Haverford then held off a late push from Ursinus. 

Gibbons, Manetta, and Christina Gould all had two assists in the game. Manetta also scooped up five groundballs.

On defense, Noelle Smith led the team with four caused turnovers and goalie Megan Chenworth made five saves in picking up the win.

Haverford wraps up its season at home this Saturday with a 1:00 game against Centennial Conference opponent Swarthmore. The conference playoffs begin Wednesday, May 4. A clearer playoff picture will be determined after Saturday's results.
