Women's Lacrosse Checks in at No. 20 in Latest IWLCA Coaches Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's lacrosse team has moved up a position in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Poll, the organization announced in its weekly release on Monday afternoon. The Fords (4-1) move up to No. 20 after a week in which the squad went 2-0 in a pair of non-conference home games. Haverford dispatched Arcadia, 20-2, on Tuesday evening, and responded on Saturday by holding off a tough challenge from Main Line foe Cabrini in a wild 21-19 victory at Swan Field.

The Centennial Conference is well represented in the weekly rankings, as Gettysburg (4-0) is the unanimous number one team in the nation for the second straight week, collecting all 25 first place tallies. Franklin & Marshall (4-1) has sprinted into the number two spot in the poll, up two places from number four a week ago. Washington & Lee, Mary Washington, Salisbury, Middlebury, York (Pa.), Colby, Trinity (Conn.), and Tufts make up the rest of the top 10 programs in the weekly ranking. Babson is the lone new entrant to the polll, with the Beavers sliding into the No. 25 spot while knocking out Claremont-Mudd-Scripps back into the grouping of others receiving votes.

Haverford's hot start is also reflected in the national statistical rankings. Through the first three weeks of the season, The Fords rank fourth in Division III with 12.2 assists per game, and are sixth in the nation in points per game (29.4). Haverford's scoring offense is 17th in Division III, racking up 17.2 goals per contest.

Julia Manetta ranks fourth in total assists (19) and 11th in assists per game (3.8). Allie Gibbons is 18th in goals (22) while Rina Rosnow is 37th (19). Amelia Slade is 14th in total saves (60) and 34th in saves per game (12).

The Fords are currently in Southwest Florida for a spring break trip. Haverford faces off with RIT on Tuesday, March 12 (1 p.m.) before taking on Skidmore at Thursday. March 14 (10 a.m.). Both contests will take place at Ann Dever Park in Englewood.
