HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's lacrosse team (2-0), a squad receiving votes in the latest IWLCA Coaches Poll, began the home segment of the 2024 schedule with a resounding 18-6 victory over visiting Widener (1-2) on Wednesday afternoon at Swan Field.

The Fords showcased a wide array of key contributors in the triumph. Brooke Epstein, building on a stellar performance in the season opener against Cabrini, led the Fords with four goals. Kylie McNamara and Abby Bonner also contributed hat-tricks, with Tiffany Mikulis adding a pair of goals and an assist, crossing the 100-point plateau for her career just two games into her third season on campus.

Reilly Curran also notched a pair of goals and an assist, while Kyle Kearon tallied two goals. Daniela Martini contributed a goal and two assists, and Louisa Coughlin found the back of the net in the final moments of the first quarter.

McNamara and Jordan Denaver each secured a game-best three ground balls, while McNamara (5) and Coughlin (4) were dominant on the draws. Lauren Anderson was credited with a pair of caused turnovers.

Three different Fords saw time in goal, with Annie Bravacos making a save in the first half and picking up the win. Lizzie Symonds made her collegiate debut with just over 22 minutes in the cage, stopping a pair of shots, and Rachel Marlin added a save, concluding the final 7:34 of regulation.

After Mikulis etched the milestone 100th point less than a minute into the contest, Widener went on a quick 2-0 run with goals from Alex Krohn and Jamie Dehaven to take an early lead. Haverford responded with a methodical 12-0 run, seizing complete control of the contest. The stretch featured goals from Epstein, Bonner, McNamara, Coughlin, Kearon, Martini, and Curran, triggering the running clock with 7:28 remaining in the second period.

The Fords effectively utilized the bench in the second half, with 23 players seeing action in the contest. Epstein added a pair of fourth-quarter goals, while Martini connected with Curran in the final moments for the last Haverford goal of the afternoon.

Catherine Scott tallied a hat-trick for the visiting Pride, also collecting two ground balls, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Clark Trowbridge was also a standout for Widener, adding five draw controls and a pair of ground balls.

Haverford improves to 15-5 all-time against the Pride, after securing a narrow 10-9 win last season at Dixon Field in Chester.

The Fords now return to action against Scranton, a team also receiving votes in the latest IWLCA Poll, at 1 p.m. in the Electric City before returning home on Wednesday, March 6, for a midweek clash against No. 7 York at 4 p.m on Swan Field.
