Bravacos Earns CC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

HAVERFORD, Pa.–  For the first time in her career, Haverford women's lacrosse senior goalkeeper Annie Bravacos has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a stellar stretch in goal for the Fords.

Bravacos, a neuroscience major from Hershey, Pa., was instrumental in leading Haverford to a 3-0 week, earning victories over No. 23 Messiah and No. 22 Christopher Newport, ans well as a key victory over Shenandoah. The senior posted a 7.12 goals against average across 176 minutes of play, recording 27 saves for a 56.3% save percentage. Her clutch free-position save in overtime against CNU helped secure the Fords' second consecutive upset victory. Bravacos also collected nine ground balls throughout the week.

Nationally, Bravacos ranks 32nd in total saves (55), while the Fords boast the ninth-best clearing percentage in Division III (90.3%).

Adding to the team's momentum, Haverford has broken into the national rankings for the first time this season, earning the No. 23 spot in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll.

The Fords now charge into another key matchup, this time against No. 16 Amherst at home on Swan Field Wednesday afternoon. The contest is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
