NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Haverford College women's squash team closed out a busy weekend with a 9-0 loss to fifth-ranked Yale University on Sunday afternoon at the Brady Squash Center.

The 32nd-ranked Fords (2-7) gave the host Bulldogs (7-0) a battle but Yale remained undefeated on the season. Playing at the top spot on the ladder, senior Caroline Nightingale made Issey Norman-Ross work hard for every point. Freshman Isabel Agnew also put up a fight against Shiyuan Mao at No. 5.

Earlier in the day, Haverford fell 9-0 to 28th-ranked Tufts University (4-6) in a neutral-site match at Yale. The match was closer than the final score indicates as several of the individual matchups were tightly contested.

Emily Berlin, playing at No. 7, just missed forcing a fifth game against Rowan Rice. Berlin fell 12-10 despite her best efforts to the extend the match.

Facing a 2-0 deficit, sophomore Ava Lichauco, at No. 8, dug deep to earn an 11-9 victory in game three before falling 11-5 in the fourth game.

Nightingale was also solid in defeat as she claimed an 11-9 game-one victory before Paget Stanco rallied back to take the match.

The action-packed weekend saw the Fords take on top-notch competition from throughout New England with five matches over three days.

Haverford will get right back on the road next Saturday when it faces Northeastern University for the second time this season. The match, hosted by Vassar College, begins at 3 p.m.
