PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The No. 27 Haverford College women's squash team wrapped up its 2024-25 season with two impressive victories at the CSA Divisional Championships, defeating No. 23 Hamilton, 8-1, and No. 24 St. Lawrence, 5-4, to claim the Walker Cup consolation final. With the pair of wins, the Fords finished with a 9-11 record, marking their highest win total since the 2019-20 season.

No. 27 Haverford 8, No. 23 Hamilton 1

Against Hamilton, Haverford controlled the match from start to finish, winning eight of nine individual contests. At the No. 2 spot, Joelle Phuah delivered one of the most determined performances of the day, rallying from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Gainsley Korengold in five games, 5-11, 11-1, 8-11, 11-5, 11-5. Julia Carrasco showed similar resilience at the fourth flight, coming from behind in another five-game battle to outlast Chiara Nadel, 12-10, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-6.

Several Fords secured dominant straight-game wins, including Catherine Fortin (11-5, 11-8, 11-7) at No. 3, Zoe Liu (11-7, 11-9, 11-1) at No. 5, and Caroline Gay (11-6, 11-2, 11-4) at No. 6. Ofri Geva shook off a slow start at the seventh flight, dropping the first game before winning the next three comfortably, 2-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-8. Matilda Chartener cruised at No. 8 with an 11-4, 11-1, 11-1 victory, while Amy Saxon won by default at No. 9.

The only setback came at the top of the lineup, where Ariana Solecki fell in a five-game battle to the Continentals' Karis Sun, 9-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6. Haverford reversed an 8-1 loss to Hamilton at last year's divisionals.

No. 27 Haverford 5, No. 24 St. Lawrence 4

In the Walker Cup consolation final against St. Lawrence, Haverford faced a much tighter contest but emerged with a 5-4 victory over the Saints, reversing a 6-3 loss in Canton at the Liberty League Championships last month.

Phuah continued her strong play at No. 2, defeating Madeleine Martin in four games, 11-4, 11-8, 6-11, 11-7. Gay and Geva provided crucial straight-game wins, with Gay taking down Emma Kahle, 11-5, 11-5, 11-9, and Geva overpowering Azaa Regmi, 11-7, 11-4, 11-3.

Chartener and Saxon each won by default due to St. Lawrence's short lineup, giving Haverford the final two points needed for the team victory.

The Fords now await the release of Liberty League postseason honors, as Haverford will hope to be well represented after the Fords had one of their strongest seasons in program history. This group has much look forward to despite losing the senior presence and leadership from Solecki and Fortin, the squad will look to take another major step forward after putting its name firmly on the map in the 2024-25 campaign.
