POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Haverford College women's squash team dropped a pair of matches at Vassar, falling to the host Brewers, 8-1, and Connecticut College, 6-3, on Saturday at Kenyon Hall on the Vassar College campus. Haverford now sits at 1-2 on the season following the day of action.

Connecticut College 6, Haverford 3

Haverford was able to capitalize on success from its top three positions on the ladder as Isabelle Gotuaco, Kaitlin Reese and Isabel Agnew all posted wins. Gotuaco dispatched Mawa Ballo in four sets, Reese continued an impressive start to her freshman season with a win over Adrienne Sieverding in three games and Isabel Agnew took down Anne Holly in four after dropping the first game.  All three players were able to stick to their game plans and strategies and benefited from excellent match fitness.

Down the ladder, Haverford was unable to take a game from a tough Camels team.

Vassar 8, Haverford 1

Against Vassar, Haverford got its lone individual win from Reese, who improved to 3-0 on the young season with a win at the No. 2 position on the Ladder, dispatching Min Wu 11-3, 11-4, 11-3. Reese was able to hold the T position exceptionally well throughout the match, consistently sending Wu into the back corners in a comprehensive three-game triumph. Reese remains the only undefeated individual on either the men's or women's squad in the early going.

Overall, the Fords played well by volleying their serves and sticking to the game strategy. Vassar's lineup includes a slew of newcomers who were able to thicken the bottom of the ladder. Agnew skimmed a game from Isabelle Bertram at the No.3 position, prevailing 11-9 to stave off elimination in the third set.

Haverford has now completed the 2016 portion of its schedule and will return to action on January 13 at Wesleyan.
