ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The No. 29 Haverford women's squash team (2-0) made quick work of Johns Hopkins in a 9-0 decision before dispatching Georgetown by a 7-2 final, sweeping the day of action Saturday at the Navy Round Robin on the campus of the United States Naval Academy. The Fords have now started the regular season with an unblemished run through the Navy Round Robin for the third consecutive year.

The first match to finish featured Tia Brown sweeping past Demi Liu, allowing just two total points in a dominating performance at the eighth flight (11-1, 11-0, 11-1). Sunny Chai then took command at the third flight, sweeping Anna Sargeantson while surrendering just 10 total points (11-2, 11-5, 11-3).
Shreya Singh grabbed a win at the fourth flight, sweeping Mary Sulavik and allowing just 11 points to her opponent (11-3, 11-5, 11-3). Sophia Jackson allowed just three points to her opponent at the ninth position (11-3, 11-0, 11-0), and Kaitin Reese then clinched the match at the top flight, allowing just nine points to Sarah Abdullah (11-3, 11-4, 11-2). Maisie Smith surrendered just two points in her sweep of Ellie Chang at the sixth spot on the ladder (11-0, 11-2, 11-0), and twin sister Caroline Smith then allowed just three to Brhea D'Mello at the seventh (11-0, 11-1, 11-2). Urgyen Wangmo got the best of Charlotte Davison at the fifth spot (11-3, 11-1, 11-3) and Isabelle Johnson then brought it home with a sweep of Charlotte Kim (11-2, 11-3, 11-2).
Haverford has now won four straight over Johns Hopkins, a streak that dates back to the 2016 season. Overall, Haverford holds an 11-9 advantage in the all-time series with the Blue Jays, dating back to the first ever meeting between the two sides in 1994.
Haverford 7, Georgetown 2
In the second match of the day, Haverford outlasted a strong challenge from the Hoyas. Brown was again featured in the first match to wrap-up, sweeping Kaleigh O'Connor by a final of 12-10, 11-5, 11-6 at the eighth flight. Singh then captured a sweep of Minna Holleck at the fourth flight, fending off her opponent in a spirited second game before gaining momentum down the stretch in an 11-2, 12-10, 11-5 decision.
The third match to finish saw Chai rally back from the brink after dropping the first two games at the third flight. Chai fell in a back-and-forth 15-13 battle before Julia Sachman was able to take an 11-4 decision in the second stanza. From that point, Chai controlled the tempo, storming back in 11-4, 11-9, and 11-6 games to push Haverford's overall match lead to 3-0.
Maisie Smith dispatched Grace Feagin with relative ease at the sixth flight (11-6, 11-3, 11-9), and Jackson then prevailed in another five-game thriller at the ninth flight, fending off a challenge from Isa Sodi in the decisive fifth game after winning the first two games to clinch the overall match victory for the Fords (11-9, 11-5, 10-12, 7-11, 12-10). Reese later took down Nina Thomas in four games (11-2, 11-8, 11-13, 11-1), but Georgetown got on the scoreboard with a five-game victory at the seventh flight, with Maggie Brown coming from behind to edge Caroline Smith (11-9, 3-11, 10-12, 11-4, 11-6).
Johnson swept Maddie Forbess (11-1, 11-8, 11-7) to give Haverford its seventh individual win of the overall match, but Georgetown doubled its win total in the closing duel, with yet another five-game battle going the way of the Hoyas as Sarah Conner nipped Wangmo (9-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-3, 11-8).
Haverford has now won two straight against the Hoyas and four of the last five meetings between the two sides. Reese pulls into a fourth-place tie with Samara Flug '15 and Bethany Simmonds '16 on Haverford's all-time career victories list with 33 all-time at the end of play Saturday.
The Fords will now host the annual Alumnae Match at the GIAC Squash Courts on November 16, before returning to CSA play on November 23 on the Poughkeepsie, N.Y. campus of Vassar. Action at the Vassar Round Robin is slated to begin at 1 p.m. as Haverford takes on No. 24 Connecticut College and the host No. 30 Brewers.
