AMHERST, Mass. - The 29th-ranked Haverford Women's Squash team (4-5) was defeated by No. 16 Amherst (7-3), 9-0, in its final match of the Pioneer Valley Invitational at the Davenport Squash Courts Sunday afternoon. Playing on its home courts, Amherst proved to be a tough matchup for Haverford, with the Mammoths taking sweeps at all nine spots on the ladder.

Co-captain Kaitlin Reese looked strong going up against Lauren Weil at the second flight, collecting 14 overall points, while Tia Brown similarly showed poise at the fourth flight, battling Caroline Conway in a back-and-forth first game that saw Brown with an early lead before Conway was able to grab an 11-7, 11-4, 11-5 victory.

Haverford was facing off with Amherst for just the third time in program history and the first time since the 2012-13 campaign.

Women's Squash is back at home next week, hosting No. 34 Bucknell and No. 30 Vassar at the GIAC Squash Courts on Saturday, February 1. Action is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. Earlier this season, Haverford grabbed a 7-2 victory over Vassar in Poughkeepsie.
