NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The 29th-ranked Haverford College women's squash team (9-8) defeated No. 31 Bucknell by an 8-1 final in the consolation semifinals of the Epps Cup at Yale University on Saturday evening.

The first match to finish took place on the all-glass show court at the Brady Squash Center, as Kaitlin Reese posted a decisive victory at the second flight. Reese made quick work of Maeve Snover,  sweeping past her opponent while surrendering just eight total points (11-2, 11-1, 11-5). Reese currently has 41 career singles wins, the most in program history. Finishing just moments after that match was the contest at the eighth flight, as Sophia Jackson blanked Caroline Insley in straight games (11-5, 11-5, 11-6). Jackson sits at 13-1 on the season and needs one more win to match Allyson Scherb '07 for the most singles wins in a season. The senior's .929 winning percentage this season is also the best single-season mark in program history.

At the fifth flight, Sunny Chai pulled out a hard-earned victory, taking 11-3 and 11-5 games to begin the contest, before Caroline Fakharzadeh responded with an 11-7 third-game win. Undaunted, Chai took an 11-8 final in the fourth to ensure a Haverford sweep of the first round of matches to hit the court.

With the Fords quickly up 3-0, Caroline Smith put the fourth tally in the Haverford ledger with a victory over Emma Stone at the ninth flight (11-2, 11-9, 11-4). Caroline Featherston rallied to power past Shreya Singh at the fourth flight (16-14, 4-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8), but Tia Brown clinched the match for the Fords with a win back on the all-glass court, dispatching Sophia Hartman in four at the third flight (11-7, 13-11, 4-11, 11-8). Urgyen Wangmo displayed a strong performance in her sweep of Charlotte Hoffberger at the seventh flight (11-5, 11-3, 11-1), and Maisie Smith had no trouble with Hannah Yeager at the sixth (11-5, 11-5, 11-1).

Isabelle Johnson took an exciting victory on the glass court at the top spot on the ladder after falling into an 0-2 hole to Ellie Hopkins. Hopkins rattled off 11-6 and 11-5 victories, but Johnson willed her way to 11-4 and 11-8 wins, forcing a decisive fifth game. In that back-and-forth contest, Johnson found a surge of momentum down the stretch, pulling to an 11-8 win to hand Haverford its eighth individual match win of the night in a thorough showing.

Haverford improves to 8-3 all-time against Bucknell, including a 3-0 mark in 2019-20. CSA Team Championships now conclude on Sunday as Haverford takes on Boston College in the Epps Cup consolation final at the Hopkins School. Action will begin at 1:30 p.m. Haverford and Boston College will be facing off for the first time since a 2018 regular season matchup at home.
