No. 32 Women's Squash Falls at No. 24 Wesleyan, 9-0

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The 32nd-ranked Haverford College women's squash team (1-8) concluded its Connecticut tour with a match against No. 24 Wesleyan (8-5) at Rosenbaum Squash Center on the Wesleyan University campus.  Despite the spirited effort, the hosts secured a 9-0 victory in College Squash Association action. Facing a formidable opponent from the NESCAC, Haverford encountered challenges as Wesleyan claimed victories in straight games in eight of the nine matchups.

Mira Bakshi defeated Ariana Solecki at the top flight (11-6, 11-2, 11-3). One of the most impressive performances from Haverford came from Catherine Fortin at the second flight, as the junior returned to the lineup after studying abroad during the fall semester. Fortin charged out to an 11-7 victory in the first game over Avika Pande, but Pande was able to rally to take down Fortin in four games with a trio of methodical victories  (7-11, 11-4, 11-3, 11-2). 

Looking ahead, Haverford is set to return to its home courts on Saturday, January 27, facing off against No. 36 Bucknell at 10:30 a.m. and conference rival No. 31 Vassar at 3:30 p.m.

The matches will take place on Play with Pride Day at the GIAC Squash Courts, with live video coverage from all five courts and live scoring accessible via HaverfordAthletics.com.
