No. 11 Hopkins hands women’s tennis first loss, 9-0, in conference opener

BALTIMORE – The Haverford College women's tennis team was dealt its first loss of the season, falling to No. 11 Johns Hopkins University, 9-0, Friday evening in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.

Alex Ferrara and Katie Wettick lost by an 8-4 count to Hailey Hogan and Nandita Krishnan at No. 1 doubles. Katie Drooyan and Kate Donches also fell by the same score at No. 2.

In singles, the Fords lost all six matches in straight sets. Helen Fisun took Hogan to 7-5 in their first set and lost the second, 6-1, at No. 3. Both Donches and Jordana Bloom lost close first sets, 6-3, to their opponents at Nos. 5 and 6, but fell 6-1 in their second sets.

Haverford drops to 6-1 overall and 0-1 in the Centennial while the Blue Jays improve to 2-3 and 1-0 in the conference.

The Fords play at Bryn Mawr College this Wednesday at 4 p.m.
