HAVERFORD, Pa. -- The Haverford College women's tennis team dropped a tough 7-2 decision to visiting Wilkes University in a match of regionally-ranked teams Tuesday night in Alumni Field House.
The Fords, who entered the match 13th in the Atlantic South Region, are 12-5. The 19th ranked Colonels improve to 12-1.
Kate Donches and Katie Drooyan teamed up to earn Haverford's first point. The pair was taken to the limit, but prevailed over Allison Kirstofco and Alexis Donner, 9-7, in the No. 2 match. Donches and Drooyan are now 14-2 as a team this season.
Alex Ferrera cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Katrina Lynn in a showdown at No. 2 singles. Ferrera improves her record to 13-2.
Haverford returns to Centennial Conference play Thursday, April 21 with a home match against Swarthmore at 4 p.m.
