ORLANDO, Fla. -  The Haverford College women's tennis team took down King's College (Pa.), 8-1, in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.

The Fords (3-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match after sweeping all of the matches during the doubles portion of the contest. Kate Donches and Abbey Flynn won their second match in a row at No. 3 doubles in impressive fashion as they rolled to an 8-0 victory.

Moving into singles competition, Haverford continued its strong play as five of the six singles players grabbed straight-set victories. The five winners at singles dropped just nine games combined to the Lady Monarchs (3-5). Jordana Bloom, at No. 5, especially stood out as she registered a pair of 6-0 victories over Vanessa Wagner.

The Fords did not have it as easy in the second match of the day as the match came down to the contest at No. 3 singles but Donches hung on for the win and consequently secured a 5-4 victory over Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.

The Cardinals (6-4) took a 2-1 lead after doubles results but Haverford tied things up with straight-set wins by Caitlin Gallagher at No. 1, Bloom at No. 5, and Flynn at No. 6.

Donches took the first set, 6-4, in the deciding match and then overcame a defeat in set two to deliver the Fords their second victory of the day with a 6-3 conquest in set three.

Haverford gets right back into action Wednesday morning when it takes on Christopher Newport University at 10:30 a.m.
