ORLANDO, Fla. – The Haverford College women's tennis team fell to Christopher Newport University, 8-1, on Wednesday morning in non-conference play.
The Fords move to 3-3 on the season while the Captains remain undefeated (4-0).
Alex Ferrara, at No. 1 singles, accounted for the lone Haverford point of the contest with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Sarah Stafford.
Continuing her strong early-season play, Abbey Flynn at No. 6 singles gave Melisande Downs a fight but fell 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.
Haverford concludes its slate of competition in Florida on Thursday with a 12 p.m. contest against Berry College followed by a match-up against Wheaton College (Ill.) at 6 p.m.
