Haverford takes down Berry

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Haverford College women's tennis team registered its fourth win of the season on Thursday afternoon as it took down Berry College, 7-2, in non-conference action.

The Fords (4-4) jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition as Alex Ferrara and Caitlin Gallagher at No. 1 doubles and Kate Donches and Abbey Flynn at No. 2 doubles both tallied victories over the Vikings (2-4).

Continuing the  momentum gained from doubles, Haverford captured five wins in the singles portion of the match with Gallagher at No. 1, Ferrara at No. 2, Donches at No. 3, Flynn at No. 4, and Kristen Anderson at No. 6, all rolling to straight-set victories.

Ferrara and Flynn dropped just one game each throughout singles play to lead the way for the Fords.

Later in the day, Haverford dropped a tough 9-0 contest to Wheaton College (Ill.).

The Fords competed well against the Thunder (13-1) but could not break through against the  Intercollegiate Tennis Association's eighth-ranked team in the Central region according to its preseason poll.

Haverford heads home to kick off its Centennial Conference slate with a Mar. 13 match-up against Bryn Mawr College.
