Fords set back by Blue Jays

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's tennis team fell 8-1 to No. 10 Johns Hopkins University in Centennial Conference action at the Bettye Marshall Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.

The Fords (5-5, 1-1 CC), who moved up to 16th this week in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Atlantic South regional ranking, earned their lone point of the afternoon against the Blue Jays (2-2, 1-0) at No. 1 singles courtesy of Alex Ferrara's three-set victory. Ferrara shook off a 6-1 loss in the first set and stormed back to register 6-2, 6-4 wins in the subsequent sets to close out her match.

Haverford gets back into action on March 22 when it travels to Wilkes University for its final non-conference matchup of the season. The contest against the Colonels is the first of four-straight on the road for the Fords.
