Fords roll past Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's tennis team registered its second consecutive Centennial Conference victory with an 8-1 win over host Ursinus College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Fords (7-6, 3-1 CC) swept doubles play over the Bears (4-7, 0-3) to jump out to a 3-0 lead in the contest. Alex Ferrara and Caitlin Gallagher notched an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while Kate Donches and Abbey Flynn at No. 2 and Celia Tong and Rachal Torg at No. 3 both tallied 8-6 victories.

Putting forth a consistent effort throughout the afternoon of action, Ferrara powered to a victory at No. 1 singles without dropping a game to Heather McMasters. Gallagher at No. 2, Jordana Bloom at No. 5, and Flynn at No. 6 followed Ferrara's lead in recording straight-set wins. Donches, playing at No.3, in the toughest match of the day, rallied from a loss in the first set to Jessica Tyrrell to sweep set two, 6-0. Outlasting Tyrrell in a super-set tie break, 10-6, Donches claimed the match.

Haverford, ranked 16th in the Alantic South region, looks to add to its conference win total on Saturday when it travels to Franklin & Marshall College for an 11 a.m. contest against the Diplomats.
