CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Haverford College women's tennis team registered its fifth win in the last six outings with a 6-3 victory over host Washington College in Centennial Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Fords (10-7, 6-2 CC) move into third place with the victory over the Shorewomen (9-4, 5-3).
Capitalizing on the momentum gained through strong doubles play that helped the team take a 2-1 lead in the match, Haverford registered convincing wins in four of the six singles contests.
Leading the way was Kristen Andersen, playing at No. 6, who did not drop a game in her straight-set victory over Kelsey Mills.
Caitlin Gallagher at No. 2, Jordana Bloom at No. 4, and Abbey Flynn at No. 5 also rolled to wins to help the Fords, ranked 16th in the Atlantic South, take down Washington, the region's seventh-ranked team.
Looking to continue its push towards the postseason, Haverford heads to Swarthmore College next Wednesday, April 18, for a Centennial contest against the Garnet starting at 4:30 p.m.
