Women's tennis ranked 18th in Atlantic South

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recognized the Haverford College women's tennis team strong performance during the fall portion of its schedule as it recently ranked the Fords 18th in the Atlantic South Region.

Haverford received impressive efforts from up and down the roster during the Swarthmore Invitational and the ITA Southeast Regional.

Senior Celia Tong and freshman Robyn Himelstein captured the championship of the Blue 4 doubles bracket at the ITA regional at the University of Mary Washington, while sophomore Kristen Andersen fell in the finals of the Blue 4 singles draw to cap off a solid effort by the Fords.

Also earning recognition from the ITA on an individual level was sophomore Caitlin Gallagher who earned the 20th spot in the rankings of the region's top-25 players. Gallagher had a standout fall season as she went 2-1 in singles at the Swarthmore Invitational and then advanced to the round of 16 of the singles championship draw at the ITA Southeast Regional.

The Fords, 12-9 overall and 7-3 in Centennial Conference play in 2012, will look to qualify for the Centennial tournament for the fifth consecutive year this spring.
