Women's Tennis Climbs to No. 10 in Regional Rankings

ITA Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team jumped up five spots to No. 10 in the Atlantic South Region in the latest set of rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The Fords are off to an 8-2 start on the season.

The spring's fast start has included a perfect 7-0 week in Florida during spring break where Haverford toppled then-regional No. 7  Berry. More recently, Haverford is coming off an 8-1 win against Bryn Mawr and currently sits at 1-1 overall in the Centennial Conference.

Five different players have already posted six or more singles victories this season for the Fords. Haverford has gone 45-15 combined in singles play this spring, a .750 winning percentage. Jessica Liu and Abby Payson are currently leading the team with nine singles wins on the year. Greta Koch and Robyn Himelstein are not far behind with their eight and seven wins, respectively.

Caitlin Gallagher has won six matches this spring, playing all but one match at No. 1. Himelstein and Gallagher have also combined for a team-best six doubles wins together at the top position. Four other singles players have also won a match. Kristen Andersen's four wins at No. 6 singles currently leads that contingent.

Women's tennis is in the middle of four match home stand. Playing all Centennial Conference competition for the remainder of the regular season, the second leg of this home stretch will be Saturday at 11 a.m. against McDaniel. Ursinus (4/1) and Franklin & Marshall (4/4) will make the trip to Haverford next week for home competitions.
