Women's Tennis Checks In at No. 12 in Regional Rankings

ITA Atlantic South Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team is ranked No. 12 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South Region in the latest release. The Fords (11-3, 4-2 CC) are currently the only team in the Centennial Conference with over 10 wins during the spring season. The conference is well represented with six teams among the top 20 in the regional poll.

The Fords have four singles players that have cracked the 10-win mark to date. Robyn Himelstein, Abby Payson and Jessica Liu each have a team-best 10 victories to pace the Fords. Right behind them is Greta Koch with 10 wins in her rookie campaign. At the No. 1 singles position, Caitlin Gallagher has eight singles victories for the Fords. A total of 10 different players have won a singles match for Haverford inside the top six this season. Haverford is a combined 60-24 in singles play during the spring.

Haverford also has an overall winning percentage in doubles. Leading the way is the No. 1 duo of Gallagher and Himelstein. Those two players have combined for a 9-5 record this spring. Showing team balance, 10 players have also earned a doubles victory this season with a variety of pairings in play.

Centennial Conference foes Washington College and Franklin & Marshall have moved ahead of the Fords in the most recent release, accounting for the two spot slide in the rankings. Johns Hopkins is ranked No. 3 in the region after being No. 1 in the country earlier in the season. Muhlenberg (No. 18) and Swarthmore (No. 20) are also among the region's top 20.

Women's tennis will be on the road this weekend when the team travels to Dickinson for a 1 p.m. start. In the Fords' final two home matches of the regular season, Haverford will have a pair of regionally-ranked opponents in Washington College (Apr. 15) and Swarthmore (Apr. 23) to deal with over the next two weeks.
