GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team put an exclamation point on an outstanding regular season with a 9-0 win against Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon. The Fords (14-4, 7-3 CC) controlled the match up and down the lineup, surrendering just six games total in all the doubles matches before taking six straight set wins in singles.

With their 14th win of the season, the Fords now have their most wins in a single season since 1999. However, Haverford has a chance to keep the wins coming with a Centennial Conference first round match against Ursinus. That match will be played at home on Wednesday, April 29.

The Fords opened today's match with three commanding wins in doubles. Ironically, each duo conceded the same number of games as its position on the ladder. The Fords' No. 1 team of Caitlin Gallagher and Robyn Himelstein notched an 8-1 win. At No. 2 doubles, it was the pairing of Greta Koch and Jessica Liu that were 8-2 victors. A clean sweep was completed with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles from Jia-Ling Tuan and Kristen Andersen.

A strong showing in doubles seemingly made the smooth transition into singles. Abby Payson did not allow a single game to her opponent in the No. 4 singles slot with her 6-0, 6-0 blanking. At positions No. 2 and No. 3, Koch and Himelstein allowed just one game to their opponents. Himelstein won her match at No. 3 by a 6-1, 6-0 score, while Koch reversed those scores at No. 2 singles.

Gallagher added a convincing win at the top singles slot with a 6-1, 6-1 win. The Fords closed out the match by allowing just five games in both the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches. Tuan was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 5 singles, while Andersen was a 6-3, 6-2 winner in her match at No. 6 singles.

With the regular season officially coming to a close, the Fords will now ramp up their focus for the Centennial Conference Tournament. The time for Wednesday's Centennial Conference first round match will be determined Monday.
