CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Haverford College women's tennis team ran into tough opposition on Wednesday evening during its trip to No. 40 Washington College. The Shorewomen (11-3, 7-1 CC) showed their national prowess throughout the night during a 9-0 victory for the hosts.

Opening up in doubles, Haverford collected three games off of the Shorewomen's opposition in the top two matches. At No. 1 doubles, it was Robyn Himelstein and Abby Payson who saw their two-match winning together streak snapped. In the middle pairing, Greta Koch and Courtney Ahmed were subdued by that same margin and saw their two-match winning streak halted.

Himelstein also contested the closest singles match of the evening. Going up against regionally-ranked April Weaver, the Fords' No. 1 player won three games during each of her two sets. However, it was the No. 13 player in the regional rankings who prevailed at the top of the lineup.

The Fords also collected games in each of the remaining five singles matches, but were unable to come away with any team points.

Women's tennis will now have the upcoming weekend away from competition. With that rest, the Fords will have a full week to prepare for rival Swarthmore. That road contest is set for Wednesday, April 27 at 4 p.m.
