Full Centennial Conference Release
HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford sophomore Abbey Russano has been named the Centennial Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced in a release on Tuesday. This is the first weekly award win for Bridgewater, N.J. product.
Russano was perfect in singles action and went 1-1 in doubles in two matches last week for the No. 36 Fords. In an 8-1 Centennial win over Ursinus, Russano posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over the Bears' Allie Armour at No. 1 singles and teamed with Ellie Esterowitz for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. In a tough 5-4 defeat to TCNJ, Russano collected a 6-1, 6-2 win at the top singles flight.
Russano is currently the Atlantic South region's No. 22 ranked singles player and has posted an 11-6 record this season in singles action, including a 4-1 mark at number one. She is also 10-6 in doubles play, including 3-1 at the top doubles pairing.
Haverford returns to action on Wednesday, heading to Bryn Mawr for a 4 p.m. first serve against the Owls.
