GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Haverford College women's tennis team (5-5, 3-0 CC) secured an impressive victory over Gettysburg College on Saturday at the Bullets Tennis Courts, as the Fords are still unblemished in the early goings of Centennial Conference play.

Haverford took control early on by sweeping the doubles matches from the Bullets. The team of Ellie Esterowitz and Abbey Russano got things started with a decisive 8-3 victory over Andrea Brazyte and Gillian Rozenfeld. The duo of Rachael Fitzgerald and Summer Williams followed suit with an 8-4 win over Sarah Guistwite and Avery Palandjian, to pull to 7-2 as a duo thus far in 2022-23. The third doubles match was won by Mimi Lavin and Abhishree Menon with a score of 8-2 against Ellie Brignati and Emma Ward.

In singles competition, Haverford continued their dominant display, with Esterowitz defeating Guistwite in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) at the second doubles flight. Fitzgerald also secured a straight-set win (6-1, 6-4) over Palandjian to put the Fords up 5-0, clinching things for the Fords at the fourth flight.

Lavin followed suit with a straight-set win over Rozenfeld (6-3, 6-2) at the third flight. However, the top singles match was a back-and-forth battle between Russano and Brazyte that went into a third-set tiebreaker. Brazyte eventually won the tiebreaker 10-7, after the two top-flight players split the first two sets (7-6, 3-6).

Summer Williams also contributed to Haverford's victory with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win over Brignati at number five, while Erika Phanord also secured a 6-1, 6-0 win over Alex Rieg at number six singles.

Haverford's victory over Gettysburg is another important one in the chase for Centennial Conference playoff seeding, as the Fords are now 3-0 in the Centennial Conference. The team is currently ranked ninth in the Atlantic South region, and will return to action on Wednesday, April 5 for a matchup against Bryn Mawr at home (4 p.m.). Haverford then heads out on the road for a matchup at No. 26 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 8.
