FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Haverford College women's tennis team wrapped up its stint at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships at Mary Washington on Sunday afternoon, with the doubles pairing of Ellie Esterowitz and Abbey Russano advancing to the quarterfinals while Esterowitz saw her singles run end in the Round of 16.

Doubles

In morning action that began bright and early at 8 a.m., the Fords' pairing took on a team from Stevens, Alix Dry and Stephanie Untermeyer. Esterowitz and Russano were fully in command, taking an 8-1 win over the Ducks. The win propelled them into the quarterfinals, where they faced the fourth-seeded pairing from Johns Hopkins, Ashley Chang and Sophia Kim. Unfortunately, Kim and Chang outperformed the Fords duo, securing an 8-3 win and ending Haverford's run in the tournament.

Singles

In the singles competition, Esterowitz had a notable performance, advancing to the Round of 16 for the first time in her career. She faced off against Mary Beth Hurley of Johns Hopkins, who was the third-seeded player in the bracket. Despite her best efforts, Esterowitz couldn't overcome Hurley's strong game, and the match concluded with a 6-3, 6-1 victory for Hurley, an Ohio State transfer, ending Esterowitz's impressive run.

With the conclusion of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, Haverford's fall competition schedule has come to an end. The team now looks ahead to the spring portion of the 2023-24 season, with the majority of the action scheduled for the spring. Their next competitive outing is set for March 2, 2024, when Haverford will begin the Centennial Conference slate with a match at Muhlenberg.
