HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College senior middle blocker Taylor Jones has earned a spot on the 2024 Volleyball Academic All-Area Team, as announced by the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (PhillySIDA) on Thursday. This marks Jones' second selection to the Academic All-Area Team, having previously been honored in 2022. She is one of 10 student-athletes to receive this distinction.
The PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Teams are selected by sports information directors from 30 institutions across the Philadelphia region. To qualify, student-athletes must have completed at least two years at their current institution and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.
A Biology major and Religion minor, Jones has excelled both on and off the court during her career at Haverford. Her athletic accolades include being named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America and earning AVCA All-Region 5 honors in 2022. She was recognized as the Centennial Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, earned First-Team All-Centennial Conference honors in 2023, and was selected to the Second Team in 2022 and 2024.
Hailing from Yorba Linda, Calif., Jones will graduate as Haverford's all-time leader in attack percentage (.366). She maintained this stellar mark during the 2024 season, with a single-season figure that ranked 24th nationally. Remarkably, she committed just 20 errors on 462 attempts this year. Defensively, she tied for third in the Centennial Conference this season with 1.02 blocks per set, ranking 40th nationally, and her 354 career blocks are the second-most in program history.
Jones' academic achievements are equally impressive. She is a three-time member of the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll (2022–2024), a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree (2022, 2023), and now a two-time PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team member.
Jones joins All-Area Performer of the Year Bridgette Kelly (Eastern) and her teammates Grace Casagrande, Logan Martin, and Hannah Pringle (Eastern), Taylor Davenport (Temple), Abby Harrell (Villanova), Morgan Ritchie (Jefferson), Caroline Sherman (Ursinus), and Dani Smith (Neumann) on the 2024 PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Women's Volleyball Team.
