Volleyball Places Four on CSC Academic All-District Teams

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College volleyball team was well represented on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, placing four members on the 2024 listing. Earning selections this year were Gia Frank, Taylor Jones, Eliana Brown, and Cameryn DeBlecourt. Jones and Brown are repeat honorees from a season ago, while Frank and DeBlecourt earned the recognition for the first time.

Frank (Van Nuys, Calif.) enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign in 2024, solidifying herself as one of the Centennial Conference's premier offensive players. She ranked seventh in the conference with a .303 hitting percentage, tallying 266 kills while committing just 66 errors on 661 total attempts. Her consistent performance included double-digit kills in 12 matches, highlighted by a standout 17-kill effort in the Centennial Conference Championship First Round against Gettysburg on November 13.

Defensively, Frank contributed 59 total blocks, including a career-high seven in that pivotal playoff match. She capped off the regular season by earning Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors after averaging 3.63 kills per set with a .421 hitting percentage in crucial wins over Muhlenberg and Swarthmore. Frank's stellar play was instrumental in helping Haverford secure its 20th Centennial Conference tournament berth in 24 seasons, marking a significant program milestone.

A Biology major and Religion minor, Jones (Yorba Linda, Calif.) has excelled both on and off the court throughout her career at Haverford. Her athletic accolades include AVCA Honorable Mention All-America and AVCA All-Region 5 honors in 2022. She was recognized as the Centennial Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, earned First-Team All-Centennial Conference honors in 2023, and was a Second-Team selection in 2022 and 2024.

Jones will graduate as Haverford's all-time leader in attack percentage (.366), a mark she maintained during the 2024 season, finishing with a single-season figure that ranked 24th nationally. Remarkably, she committed just 20 errors on 462 attempts this year. Defensively, she tied for third in the Centennial Conference with 1.02 blocks per set, ranking 40th nationally. Her 354 career blocks are the second-most in program history.

Brown (San Francisco, Calif.), a Psychology major, was previously named to the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. She had an outstanding junior season, playing in 24 matches and 87 sets for the Fords. Brown finished second on the team in kills (201, 2.31 per set) and recorded double-digit kills in eight matches, including a standout 19-kill performance against Messiah on September 7. Defensively, she ranked second on the team in digs with 243, hitting double digits in 13 matches, including a season-high 25 digs against (RV) Eastern on September 6.

Brown's versatility was on full display throughout the season. She posted four double-doubles and tied for second on the team with 39 service aces, including an impressive 10-ace performance against Swarthmore on November 9 that matched a program record. Additionally, she tallied 73 assists (third on the team), highlighted by a season-high eight assists against McDaniel on November 2. She also contributed 32 total blocks, rounding out a stellar all-around campaign worthy of Academic All-District recognition.

DeBlecourt (Lockport, Ill.), who was also named to the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, delivered an exceptional 2024 season and earned recognition as co-captain of the squad. Appearing in all 26 matches and competing in 96 sets, she led the Fords with a team-high 448 assists, showcasing her ability to control the offense. She recorded 20 or more assists in 11 matches, including a season-best 26 assists against Gettysburg on October 12.

A versatile contributor, DeBlecourt tied for second on the team with 39 service aces, recording three aces in six different matches. Defensively, she finished third on the team with 202 digs, posting double-digit digs in six contests, including a season-high 19 digs in a hard-fought match at Messiah on September 7. Adding to her all-around performance, she tallied 36 kills throughout the season.

The 2024 Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on January 14, 2024.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects of the 2023-24 Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
