HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College cricket team continued its winning streak by defeating Columbia by 65 runs on Sunday at Cope Field. Haverford batted first and scored 207 runs for seven wickets in 25 overs.
Mohanish Bajaj was the top scorer with a brilliant inning of 73 not out. Sidd Phatak (15), Nihaal Kochar (18) and Aniketh Rao (15) added valuable runs. Ishpuneet Singh and Leo Gruenstein also added an important 32 and 15 not out, respectively, to take the score to 207 runs.
Young Sarvan P. bowled well for Columbia and took three wickets for 23 runs. Sanjay T. took the other two wickets for 27 runs. In reply, Columbia scored 142 runs for seven wickets in 25 overs. Dhruv scored a well-played 34 runs, and Sanjay, 27 retired, also played well. Sidd Phatak bowled well and took three wickets for 26 runs.
Sanil Kagalwala and Nihaal Kochar also bowled well and took one wicket each for 18 and 19 runs.
The Fords will now aim to finish their fall season undefeated with two early October matches. First, they face Mad Dogs Cricket Club on Saturday at 11 a.m. on Cope Field. Then, they host Penn State on Sunday, October 6, also at 11 a.m.
