USILA Scholar All-American Team

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Ben Frost '19 has been recognized by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) as a Scholar All-American for the 2019 season. Frost is the 13th player in program history to earn this distinction with each of those honors coming since the conclusion of the 2008 season.

The USILA Scholar All-America program was established in 1989 to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. A Scholar All-American must be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Scholar All-Americans must have brought credit to themselves, the institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. They must also be an All-American, a member of a North-South team, or an outstanding league or conference player.

This latest accolade adds to a very productive spring for the Fords' graduated middie. Below is a list of his accomplishments achieved with today's announcement:

  • William W. Ambler '45 Award (highest cumulative GPA of all Haverford senior student-athletes
  • USILA honorable mention All-American – 23rd in school history
  • Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year – second time in career, overall winner for all men's sports in 2019, 11th two-time winner in CC history (all sports)
  • Honorable mention All-Centennial Conference – second straight year
  • CoSIDA Academic All-District – second straight year
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll – earned every eligible season
  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area – earned every eligible season

A chemistry major, Frost was one of four players who started all 15 games for the Fords this season, He tallied new career highs in every offensive category. He led the team in shots (98) and shots on goal (54), while ranking second in goals (24), and fourth in both assists (8) and points (32). Scoring 14 of his 24 goals in Centennial Conference play, the Fords' senior finished with a goal in 12 of the 15 games. Highlighted by his play against conference foes, he recorded an offensive point during each of the final 11 games, scoring multiple goals seven times during that stretch.

The 2019 Haverford College men's lacrosse season was highlighted by a pair of top 10 victories on the road against Dickinson and Ursinus which kept the Fords in the playoff hunt right up until the final day of the regular season. Those two victories represented just the second time in program history that the Fords have beaten two top 10 teams in the same season. The only other occasion came in 2010 when the Fords captured the program's first Centennial Conference Championship. The Fords played the ninth-toughest schedule in all of Division III this season and now have 11 wins against top 10 teams in school history.
