HAVERFORD, Pa. - Freshman Sam Yarosh tallied two goals and classmates Brady Seitz and Colin Seitz added a goal apiece to help the Haverford College men's soccer team secure a 4-2 Centennial Conference victory over visiting Washington College on Thursday afternoon at Walton Field.
The Fords (5-4, 2-1 CC) took the early 1-0 lead when junior Jamie Reingruber sent a cross from the right corner that Brady Seitz pushed along to his brother for Colin's first collegiate goal at the 15:11 mark of the first half.
Preserving the Haverford advantage, goalie Andriy Mshanetskyy corralled a shot by Matt Wilfong with just under eight minutes to go in the half to keep the Shoremen (2-4, 1-2) off the board and send the Fords, undefeated this season when leading at the half, into the intermission with the edge on the scoreboard.
The second half was all Haverford as it exploded for three goals on 10 shots. Finishing with a three-point day, Brady Seitz tallied his second of the season in the 53rd minute of the contest to extend the Fords' advantage.
Great determination by senior Matt Gorski led to Haverford's third goal of the game as Gorski found Yarosh on a cross from the endline. Taking advantage of the nice feed, Yarosh drilled home his fourth of the year at 67:59 to open a 3-0 cushion.
After Sam Wild got Washington on the board in the 71st minute off a scramble in front of netminder Charlie Michele, on in relief of Mshanetskyy, Yarosh restored the Fords' three-goal advantage by beating Tyler Cabot for the second time with just under seven minutes remaining in the contest.
Sam Draper completed the scoring with his first of the season as he put one by Nick Kahn with a minute on the clock.
Gorski was active in the midfield and finished with two assists.
Limiting the Shoremen to just four shots on goal, Haverford's defense won the one-on-one battles and consistently turned Washington away at midfield.
Mshanetskyy made one save to record his fifth win of the season while Kahn and Michele split time in goal over the final 20 minutes of action.
Cabot (2-4) registered three saves in the loss.
Looking for their third consecutive Centennial win, the Fords host Muhlenberg College on Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.
