PHILLY-SIDA Release

PHILADELPHIA – Sam Yarosh has been voted the 2015 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Performer of the Year for men's soccer, while teammate Will Corkery was also named to the all-area team as voted on by the sports information office of the 29 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

Yarosh earns recognition on the team for the second time in his career as he also earned academic all-area accolades during the 2013 season. He is the 13th student-athlete in school history, and first from the men's soccer program, to be named the performer of the year in a particular sport. Corkery's selection marks the first time since the 2010 season that the men's soccer team has had two representatives on the all-area team which is made up of 11 players for all of the 29 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The 2015 Centennial Conference Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Yarosh was recently named the program's first selection to the All-America team since the 1984 season with his second team honor. Yarosh was also a first-team NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region honoree after leading the Centennial Conference in both goals (17) and points (39) during his senior season. The first-team All-CC selection scored in 13 different games this season, all of which ended in Haverford victories. He was named a CoSIDA first-team All-America and All-District honoree.

Corkery led the Centennial Conference in assists for the second straight season as he set up 13 goals on the year. He also earned NSCAA first-team All-Mid-Atlantic Region and first-team All-Centennial Conference mention. Additionally, he scored nine goals for the year and finished second in the conference with 31 points. His seven game-winning goals tied with Yarosh for the program's single-season record. He was named the Centennial Conference Tournament MVP after scoring the game-winning goal in both the Centennial Conference semifinals and the 1-0 Centennial Conference Championship victory with his direct kick that came with 19 seconds left in regulation.

Men's soccer won a program-record 18 games during the 2015 season and rose to No. 1 in the regional rankings under the Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year Shane Rineer. The Fords went 9-0 in Centennial Conference play before taking home their second conference title in four years on Walton Field. Haverford earned a first round bye with a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced all the way to the Elite Eight as the team hosted the NCAA Regional and Sectional rounds on Walton Field for the first time in program history.
