Men's Soccer Maintains Fourth Position in Regional Rankings

NCAA Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team maintained its No. 4 position in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the third consecutive week. This set of rankings ultimately leads up to the selection of at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament. The final rankings will be released next Monday following the announcement of the tournament field.

Before the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field and selection of at-large berths, the Fords will have a chance to take matters into their own hands when they host the Centennial Conference Tournament. The Fords will start their postseason journey on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Washington College after the Shoremen took care of Dickinson by a 1-0 score in the first round game on Wednesday.

Haverford played arguably its most complete game of the Centennial Conference schedule during a 3-0 win against the Shoremen in the regular season. In that victory, Tejan Walcott netted the game-winning goal just over nine minutes into the contest. William Edwards and Nick Jannelli added insurance tallies while Sam Miller made three saves in goal to record the shutout victory.

The Fords earned the right to host the conference tournament for the third time in four seasons when Franklin & Marshall was tripped up by Dickinson on the final day of the regular season. The Diplomats, a team currently ranked No. 2 in the region, will fill the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament and battle third-seeded Johns Hopkins during the second semifinal on Saturday. The Centennial Conference Championship match is set for 1 p.m. Sunday on Walton Field.

The winner of the Centennial Conference Tournament is awarded the conference's at-large bid to the NCAA Championship. The NCAA will announce the tournament field with an online selection show that will air at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 7.www
