Season Review: Men's Soccer Makes Ninth Straight Playoff Appearance

Signature wins: The Haverford College men's soccer team made it back to the Centennial Conference Tournament for a ninth straight season and hosted a home playoff game on Walton Field for the seventh consecutive year in 2019. Highlighting that conference success was the highest-ranked road win in program history early in the season before the Fords officially punched their postseason ticket against the rival Garnet during the final day of the regular season.

Haverford started the Centennial Conference slate off on the highest of notes as the Fords took down Johns Hopkins by a 1-0 score in Baltimore, proving that a Fords team which had won three of the last four Centennial Conference Championships at the time was not going to go away without a battle. The Blue Jays were ranked No. 3 in the nation at that time and entered the year as the conference's preseason favorites. Nevertheless, Kevin Kaufman's 24th minute goal got the Fords off to a strong start in conference action. A highly competitive conference, which saw four teams make the NCAA Tournament, came down the final day of the regular season to decide the playoff participants. Facing a win and in situation, Haverford scored three times in the first half with goals from Noah Schwab, Mattieu Maciejewski, and Paul-Andre Coulibaly to secure a place in the conference tournament over the rival Garnet on Haverford's Senior Day.

Looking forward: One of the strengths of the Haverford team this year was an incredible amount of depth. That experience will certainly pay dividends going forward as the Fords replace a senior class that featured three All-Centennial Conference players. Including honorable mention All-Centennial Conference performer Noah Schwab, the Fords return 10 players to the 2020 roster who have started at least 10 matches over their careers. Additionally, seven others have also appeared in the starting lineup at various times throughout their careers for a very talented core that will be aiming to return Haverford to the top of the Centennial Conference which has consistently proven itself to be among the best conferences in all of Division III.
