WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - In a defensive battle in Williamsport, the Haverford College men's soccer team (0-2) was edged by host Lycoming (1-0-1), 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. Paul-Andre Coulibaly fired three shots to pace the Fords, while Alex Millones fired a shot on frame, one of only two total in the contest.

Haverford earned the first corner of the game in the 11th minute, and Noah Schwab had a decent look at goal just moments later but saw his shot miss wide. Millones then rocketed a shot on frame in the 14th minute and Schwab had a chance in the 26th as Haverford maintained intensity in the attacking third. On the other side, the Lycoming offense didn't have a chance to get into its own rhythm as the Fords defensive pressure kept the Warriors at bay in the first 45.

At the halftime intermission, Haverford held a slight 4-2 edge in shots. Out of the break, a flurry of consecutive Haverford corners and a shot by Coulibaly went fruitless before Lycoming broke through first in the 70th minute, as Sean Campbell found Joe Bamfo for the eventual game-winner. As was the case on Thursday night, Haverford was aggressive in its chase to equalize, with Andrew Peebles and Coulibaly each getting shots off in the waning moments before Lycoming was able to see the final seconds tick off the clock for a home win.

The Fords will now return to action on Saturday, hosting the annual Jimmy Mills Tournament at Walton Field. The first Haverford contest is slated for a 2:30 p.m. start on Saturday a, September 11 against Rowan before the Fords welcome Widener on Sunday, September 12 at approximately 2:20 p.m.
